Meredith Berry

I grew up in a small town in Virginia in a very active household. My dad was a former college football player, and my mom was always focused on healthy eating. My two sisters and I were three-sport athletes. We were also the kids whose school lunches no one wanted to touch thanks to the whole wheat bread PB&J’s and an apple for dessert. This was how I learned to be healthy: through the example set by my parents. Eat well, stay active, work hard to develop yourself, and get enough sleep.

After college, when I started a job that involved frequent travel and some 80-90 hour work weeks, I quickly learned that staying healthy in adulthood wasn’t going to be so simple. Eating out was a given when I was on the road, and at the end of a long week, I didn’t have the same energy or enthusiasm about hitting the gym that I used to. To give myself the push I needed to get back into a healthy routine, I started working with a personal trainer. My experience with her lit up my passion for health and wellness like never before. The more I learned about my body and what I needed to be my best self, the more I wanted to know.

In 2018, I obtained my Group Fitness Instructor Certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and began teaching strength and interval training classes. It was this experience coaching clients to reach their fitness goals that prompted me to look into health coaching. Since beginning personal training 4 years prior, I had been considering how to turn my passion for health and wellness into a full-time career, but nothing seemed like the right fit – until I found health coaching. I completed my training as an Integrative Health Coach at Duke Integrative Medicine in June 2019, and became certified by Duke Integrative Medicine in spring 2020. I can’t wait to support you on your journey to better health and your best self!
