Meredith Berry, CEO and Founder

Hello! My name is Meredith Berry and I am the CEO and founder of MB Wellness. I grew up in rural Virginia, and I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t active. My sisters and I used to sprint outside to play first thing in the morning and wouldn’t return until we could hear Mom calling us inside for dinner. When we were old enough, we were immediately enrolled in youth league sports – from elementary through high school, we were three-sport athletes. Obviously, we came from a family that emphasized staying active and busy.

After graduating high school and beginning my undergraduate education at the University of Virginia, I continued to stay active even though I was no longer part of an organized team. Post-grad I really dug into running, but when I started a job that involved frequent travel and some 80-90 hour work weeks I quickly learned I needed to find a new approach to my health that wasn’t simply centered on being active. At the end of a long week, I didn’t have the same enthusiasm about hitting the gym or going for a run that I used to, and I began to realize that my health was much more than the number of sweat sessions I racked up.

It was around this time that I decided to start working with a personal trainer. I have to give her a lot of credit because working with her was the first time I truly understood how narrow my approach to fitness, and health in general, had been. I spent most of my life in the quantity over quality mindset when it came to working out, and it made me question, “what other aspects of my health am I doing this with?” In the years that followed I began educating myself on nutrition and stress management, and dug deeper into the fitness world.

In 2018, I obtained my Group Fitness Instructor Certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and began teaching strength and interval training classes at a local studio. It was this experience coaching clients to reach their fitness goals that prompted me to look into health coaching. I had been considering how to turn my passion for health and wellness into a full-time career for years, but nothing seemed like the right fit — until I found health coaching. I completed my training as an Integrative Health Coach at Duke Integrative Medicine in June 2019, and now I can’t wait to support you on your journey to better health and your best self.
